The marquee hire check-list

When you are deciding which marquee company to use there are a number of points you might want to think about.

Is the company local? Using a local company may have benefits. If your supplier is nearby they can get to your venue quickly and, should anything go wrong, they can fix the problem with no hassle. Also, by using a local firm, it is easier to check testimonials and recommendations in your local area.

Have you seen photos? Most companies will have a selection of photos on their web sites with other shots they can probably send you if you haven’t seen enough. Photos give you a great idea of what your marquee will look like when it’s up.

Is the company easy to contact? If you struggled to get hold of a supplier on your initial phone call, that may not be a good sign of things to come. How regularly does a supplier replace equipment? Old marquees can look tatty and tired.

What’s the total cost? When you get your quotes make sure they include delivery charges, VAT, insurance or any other extras and surcharges.

How many quotes do you need? Three are usually sufficient.

What to avoid

Look out for part timers. If you want a professional service, use a professional company. There are many companies out there, ‘operating out of a garden shed’. That isn’t to say that is always a bad thing, but be warned.
